Research Interest

After doing some exploration in the Internet for ideas, I have decided my area of research interest is in the scope of Science Literacy. It is quite large scope and had got the pretty much attention in the education sector nowadays. Some developed countries have made Science Literacy as the main purpose of education.

There are some reasons to be considered in making the decision. In Udompong (2014), based on Program International for Students Assessment (PISA), there are three factors of Science Literacy which are knowledge (content), context, and attitude. Science helps human to develop the ways of thinking, to be reasonable, creative, analytical, critical, develops essential skill in knowledge research, the ability to resolve problems systematically, and to make decisions using a variety of information in the form of verifiable evidence. (Udompong, 2014)

To be more specific, based on categories, the research is planned to focus on content and context. In Genci (2015), Showalter (1974) identified related literature covering 15 year period and identified seven dimensions of scientific literacy which the research is planned focusing on two dimensions out of seven, which understand scientific concepts, principles, laws and theories in daily life and relating science and environment by using values which form the basis of science. The rest of research components, such as the factors that would be as the independent and dependent variables have not yet decided in details.
